The Alpha Pi Mu chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the international History honor society, was established at Belmont Abbey College in 2018. Membership is open to students, faculty, and alumni.

Mission Statement: Phi Alpha Theta is a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by our members in a variety of ways.
Membership Qualifications:
- At least 12 credit hours (four classes) in History, with a minimum GPA of 3.1 in those courses
- An overall GPA of 3.0
- Membership is available to History majors, minors, and those who enjoy studying the past
- A one-time lifetime membership fee of $40, which includes a year’s subscription to The Historian, the edited history journal of Phi Alpha Theta
